Wow. Three gigs to look forward to at Adel Uni with James Griffin and the Subterraneans, Limbos and the Tivoli in May 1986. James Griffin had John Lloyd on drums who played all the hits on the Flowers album "Icehouse". The poster is a bit blurry but May 10th we played with July 14th. The band i mean. What is that silver thing? Oh yeah, I know

This gig was from 1987 in the Flinders Uni Tavern with one of my favourite bands, the Screaming Believers and here. We coincidently played with the Happy Hate Me Nots in Sydney in December of 1990 at the Petersham Inn
More Screaming Believers here
I was studying for a P.E and Maths Degree at the Underdale campus at the time. (1988)

McCrea Avenue, Prospect.
Tony's parents from the cabaret band lived next door but I didn't know that at the time. That's Adelaide for ya. Snap yet again.

1990
A gig from 1990 at the Adelaide Uni Bar
Another example of Pete Long's great artwork is this hand bill for a gig after the Midnight Oil Concert at the Queen's Arms. We played quite a few gigs with Aunty Raelene who used to wear dresses when they played, not unlike The Doormats with Johnnie Dady (teacher and artist of note), Tom Maksimovic (the World's greatest whistler) and Jon "Dingo" Van Bowman (a consumate musician and vocalist) from the Lonely Cosmonauts.

What a bargain at $9.90 a ticket. You get 10 cents change. WOW. It's worth a punt don't ya reckon? Seven bands for $1.4142857 per band. Where are the Screaming Believers Ken?
Nice one Pete
Not very Christian like behaviour from Doug Thomas from Greasy Pop Records
Try and find this book, (maybe in the library)
I loved playing with The Shivers, a shimmering jingly, jangly guitar pop band at the MCG Hotel opposite the MCG Oval. See if you can get their Big Love CD. A sound reminiscent of The Pretenders. Pickled onions, painkillers and soldering irons. Very interesting shopping list.
Playing time 12 am - 1.15 am FANTASTIC!
Issue 112 of RIP IT UP magazine May 2 - 8 1991
The Advertiser, 20th July 1991
The gig at the Annandale was with The Bedridden which had the late Barnaby Ward (Baterz) as one of its members. The Lonely Cosmonauts covered one of his songs "The drowning of the Daddo brothers" which was released 18 years after this gig with a launch at the Grace Emily on Sun 26 April 2009, and included songs by Tex Perkins and Deborah Conway. Funny how things pan out if you stay in the game. What a unique songwriter.
Setting off on our December 1990 Sydney Tour from Pete's place in Malvern
That's James Baker on the far right from The Hoodoo Gurus. He looked a little on the beefy side. Their manager drove them to the gig in a Jaguar. Boris Sudjovic from Kim Salmon's band is second from left.
In a Glenelg record store at the end of Jetty Road amongst posters for 1927, Boom Crash Opera and Skyhooks. You could be forgiven to think we were bigger than we were! We should of rang Michael Gudinski a bit earlier!
Andrea in the 5PBA Studio presenting her show OZ BECAUSE. Andrea worked at PBA between 1989 and 1994 producing and presenting various on air programs. Other activities included news reading, driving the desk for other presenters and managing the music library. This is the studio that the late Richard Marsland got his start in radio before his SAFM days (see also Obituaries Page here)
